YOUR YEAR TO VOLUNTEER
This year, we honour the volunteers who have made 2026 a year of meaningful involvement, and thank those who have generously given their time to inspire others to discover how volunteering can foster connection, purpose, and lasting positive change.
CELEBRATING OUR VOLUNTEERS
Happy Volunteer Week!
This week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who make Making Waves Foundation possible—our volunteers.
Every time you show up, you create something meaningful. You inspire confidence, open doors, and help young people discover what they’re capable of. Your time, energy, and passion ripple far beyond the moments you see.
Across every port, your impact is felt—and it matters.
Throughout the week, we’ll be shining a spotlight on some of our amazing volunteers and teams—sharing their stories and recognising the difference they make in our community.

Denis Collins, Doug Williams
Melbourne Volunteers
Denis Collins, Doug Williams
Melbourne Volunteers
Volunteering most Mondays and Tuesdays, they provide young people with disability the opportunity to experience sailing in a safe, supportive and empowering environment, helping to build confidence and create lasting memories.
Beyond their time on the water, Doug and Denis also play a key role in maintaining the program yacht Ninety Seven, ensuring it remains safe and welcoming for all.
We’d also like to thank all of our Melbourne volunteers who contribute their time, skills and passion. Your collective effort is what makes these experiences possible.

Through their consistent support and mentorship, they are helping young people build not only trade skills, but confidence and life skills that extend far beyond the program.
This year has been especially significant, with Geelong welcoming its first two female participants—both thriving in a supportive and inclusive environment created by these volunteers.
We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our Geelong volunteers. Your time, care and commitment make a lasting difference, and we are deeply grateful.

Your commitment, kindness and willingness to show up week after week does not go unnoticed. You are truly at the heart of what we do, and we couldn’t do it without you.
