Today, we proudly took our first Rainbow Dinghy off the jig! This marks a significant step forward for our Wright of Passage program, which kicked off 2025 with a focus on empowering young Australians through hands-on learning and sailing adventures. 🚤✨
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of partners like the Ian and Shirley Norman Foundation, as well as our dedicated volunteers, donors, and sponsors. Your generosity fuels our mission to create life-changing opportunities for young people. 💙
Program Manager Matt Smyth went live on air with ABC Newcastle to discuss the launch of the Wright of Passage program in Newcastle and the inspiring Off the Jig event held at the Ian & Shirely Norman Foundation.
But we need your help to keep the momentum going! As we expand programs like Wright of Passage, we’re looking for:
- New volunteers and partnerships with schools to join us in shaping brighter futures.
- Locations to host our program—spaces large enough for 2x 20ft containers and a place to sail the new boat once it’s built.
- Support for program costs, including raw materials and operational funding.
The impact of these programs is profound—participants leave with newfound skills, apprenticeships, or even a return to education, setting them up for success in life. 🌟

Together, we’re not just building boats—we’re building brighter futures. Learn more about our broader mission and how you can support our “Wright of Passage” Here: Making Waves – Wright of Passage
