MWF Wins Sport Promotion Award at NSW/ACT Sailing Awards

We are delighted to announce that the Making Waves Foundation has been awarded the Sport Promotion Award at the Australian Sailing NSW/ACT Awards, held on Saturday 20th September at the St George Sailing Club.

This award recognises the outstanding efforts of a club, individual or organisation that has positively promoted sailing in the community. The criteria highlight work in:

  • Organising and promoting significant sailing events,
  • Enhancing public and commercial interest in the sport, and
  • Generating media publicity across print, digital, radio, television, or photography.

At MWF, we are proud that our programs not only bring the joy of sailing to people living with disability and disadvantage, but also showcase sailing as a powerful tool for inclusion, empowerment and community impact. Winning this award reflects the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and partners who ensure that sailing continues to inspire and engage new audiences across NSW and the ACT.

We would also like to congratulate James Hunter and John Whitfeld for being recognised as finalists in the Volunteer of the Year category. Their passion, commitment, and countless hours of service are the backbone of our success and a shining example of what makes the MWF community so special.

This recognition strengthens our resolve to keep promoting sailing as a sport that welcomes everyone and changes lives.

Being a part of the Making Waves team will strengthen your ties with your community and introduce you to people who are also passionate about sailing. Volunteering with Making Waves allows you to work with our most vulnerable community members while building and strengthening relationships with your peer volunteers.
