Making Waves in Brisbane

Making Waves Volunteer and a student during a Winds of Joy sail in Brisbane

There has been a hive of activity in our Brisbane hub over the past week. We were proud to hold an official celebration to launch our newest yacht, The Tribe.

The Making History Breakfast was attended by 100 guests, including our Brisbane volunteers and a special guest panel. The panel, hosted by Olympic and Paralympic coach Adrian Finglas, consisted of Daniel Fitzgibbon OAM whom Adrian coached to Paralympic gold in the 2012 London games.

Daniel and Adrian were joined by Wendy Tuck and James Hunter from Making Waves and young Ariel Henderson who was one of the first participants in our Winds of Joy program when it began in February.

There was a unique raffle on the morning which saw guests buy a balloon which had a number inside and at the end of the breakfast, everyone popped their balloon and collected the prize that corresponded to their balloon.

We thank everyone at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron for their help in hosting this event.
